Fried Wontons and Sesame Chicken Dinner Special

@ Yeung II Sushi Asian Cuisine - Hoboken, NJ

Thoughts: My apartment building just switched over to a new ‘buzzer’ system a few months ago.  As a guest, you look up the person’s name, do something, it will call the person’s cell phone and by pressing 7 (or 9) the cell phone will buzz you in.

Well, I ordered this off of delivery.com, the guy came in about 30 minutes and called me.  "Can you buzz me in?"  "No. You need to look me up and press a button."  "Ugh, ok, but there’s no button"  "What do you mean there’s no button?"  "There’s no button."  "Well, I don’t know, there should be directions there… people get buzzed in everyday"  "Yea, well, I dunno…"  "Can’t you just buzz me in?"  "No. That’s not how the system works…" "But…"  fuck, i can go on and on about this conversation, as it lasted about 5 more minutes but thank goodness someone let this guy in.  He was able to figure out how to use the elevator, but COME ON MAN YOU DELIVER FOOD FOR A LIVING.  FIGURING OUT HOW TO GET INTO APARTMENTS SHOULD BE ON YOUR GODDAMN RESUME.

oh, well the food was ok.  Fried wontons were great and the sesame chicken was sub-par.  Also this yellow fried rice is bullshit.  There are too many chinese restaurants in Hoboken to give this place another shot.

Wonton Soup, Chicken Wings and Sesame Chicken with Pork Fried Rice

@ Suzie’s - West Village - New York, NY

Thoughts: Suzie’s is legit.  So so sooo legit.  Hands down, my favorite Chinese spot not only near work, but in the city.  Two reasons: the quality of the food is about 2 steps up from your normal take-out spot and it costs about the same.  Here’s the run-down: $8 (+ tax, tip if you stay) will get you: soup, vegetable egg roll or two chicken wings and your main dish.  The wonton soup is BOMB.  Seriously good broth, real pork and delicious wontons.  The chicken wings? So good I contemplate just ordered them everytime I come back.  The sesame chicken is right up there - crisp and not over-abundantly saucy.  Honestly, thinking about this meal is making me hungry right now.  The fried rice also gets the thumbs up… I really cannot emphasize my love for this place enough.  If possible, sit down for lunch sometime - promise you’ll thank me later.

Sesame Chicken Lunch Special
@ Future Restaurant - Jersey City, NJ
Thoughts: This is one of those Mexican / Chinese places… not usually my style (never my style, actually), but I was at a friend’s place and we were still within the “lunch special” time window.  The pork fried rice was good (not pictured) and the wonton soup was pretty shitty (also not pictured).  The chicken… eh.  the composure was fine (crispy enough), but there was just something off with the sauce.  I did read some pretty good things about their mexican food, though…
